Kaohsiung city, Chinese Taipei, August 16, 2013 – In their first meeting in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix, Turkey edged the Dominican Republic in a thrilling tiebreak match 3-2 (25-27, 22-25, 25-22, 26-24, 15-13.)

Turkey currently stands in eighth place in the World Grand Prix Standings, with 15 points. The Dominican Republic is in 10th place with 12 points. Both still have a chance to make the Finals if they continue with wins this weekend.

Turkey’s Seda Tokatlioglu was her team’s top scorer with 28 points. The Dominican Republic’s captain Bethania De La Cruz De Pexa led her team with 27 points.

The breathtaking match began with a continuous attack by Turkey in the first set, giving the team a quick leading position. However, with the powerful serves by Gina Altagracia Mambru Casilla, the Dominican team turned the tables and won the first set, 25-27.

The back-and-forth battle continued with Turkey winning the second set 22-25, and the Dominican Republic winning the third set 25-22.

In the deciding tiebreak set, Turkey secured the set win 15-13 and the match, 3-2.
