Wuhan, China, August 16, 2013 – China maintained their perfect win record in the 2013 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-16) win against Argentina in front of an enthusiastic home crowd in Wuhan on Friday.

China is in first place in the World Grand Prix standings and remains the only undefeated team in this year’s campaign, following Japan’s defeat by Bulgaria the same day. If China continue to win their next two matches this weekend, they would mark their best World Grand Prix start ever. China have lost only three sets in this season’s World Grand Prix, the fewest of all teams.

The first set started with Argentina dominating play at the net with strong spikes, but after the first technical time-out China strengthened their defence and Argentina had difficulty with the home team's effective blocking. China led 16-11 at the second technical time-out and then went on to close out the set 25-18

China revealed more determination in the second set and stormed into a 5-0 lead, forcing errors from Argentina that prompted an early time-out. From then on China played more patiently, persistently and with flexibility. Argentina stayed within reach but, thanks to Xu Yunli's blocking, China won the second set 25-17 to lead the match 2-0.

The third set started with powerful attacks and blocks from China and they jumped out to a commanding 7-4 lead, and maintained that advantage until the second technical time-out. China then closed the set 25-16 and the match 3-0 with a strong attack from Liu Dan. China captain Hui Ruoqi was the match's leading scorer with 16 points.

China's task of defending their perfect record will get tougher on Sunday, when they face current No. 2 World Grand Prix team Serbia. On Sunday, they face Poland, who are in 16th place.
