Ankara, Turkey, August 25, 2013 – As Iran emerged victorious from a 3-0 (28-26, 29-27, 25-18) battle with Japan at the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Ankara, both their coach and their caption expressed their satisfaction of having defeated a very strong opponent.  Here are the post-game statements from both sides.

Noriaki Sako, coach of Japan: “Today’s match was very fast. The problem was that on tie breaks Japan could not earn points. Every aspect in this game was challenging, because the Iranian team are very good.”

Masahiro Sekita, captain of Japan: “We think that the first two sets were good, but the fact that we could not win them disappointed us. Because of this, we partly gave up in the last set. We were not in good condition, but we will do our best in the next matches.”

Farhad Nafarzadeh, coach of Iran: “We are very happy for beating last year’s champions of Asia. They are a very good team with a good coach and good players. We knew that it was going to be a tough match. Japan is a fighting team. They never give up fighting. I want to thank all my players and our fans for their contribution to this victory. Every match in the World Championship is important. We are happy to take three wins in a row.”

Javad Hosseinabadi, captain of Iran: “We played teams from three different continents so far. It was very difficult for us because they all have different tactics and we need to change our play each match. Japan are a team that plays very fast. We are very happy to win against a very strong team like this.”
